The number of patients who test positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Indonesia records an increase from 172 to 227 people. Meanwhile, the number of positive Covid-19 patients who died significantly increased to 19 people. The Special Capital Region of Jakarta records the highest number.

Responding to this situation, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. (H.C.) Puan Maharani, urges the people to independently prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Puan also continues to give her full support to doctors and medical personnel who work at the forefront in handling the Covid-19 epidemic.

"I ask the public to help ease their burden (doctors and medical personnel) by taking preventative measures independently. Wash your hands often with soap, maintain personal, family and environmental hygiene," Puan said in an official statement to Parliamentaria, Thursday (19 /3/2020).

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician further urges people to be positive and work together to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic considering the handling of Corona outbreak requires joint efforts and mutual cooperation from all parties; the Government, Military, Police, communities, and private sectors.

"The government together with the Military and the Police are joining hands through united and integrated handling efforts in providing education, dissemination, mitigation, and patient management. The community must also take roles such as maintaining personal health and environmental hygiene, supporting social distance practices and complying with epidemic management protocols," Puan said.

On the other hand, Puan encourages the private sectors to take part in supporting the practice of working from home for their employees and helping to provide health facilities for the prevention such as turning their private buildings that are not currently being used into temporary hospitals.

The legislator from the Central Java V constituency also encourages the Government to focus on saving and maintaining public health as these efforts can also save the national economy. In addition, Indonesia is a great nation that can always overcome challenges with the spirit of mutual cooperation which is the genuine spirit of Indonesia.

"Let us always be on full alert, do not panic, and be optimistic. Last but not least, I do not want you to forget this, I want to remind people to practice the Healthy Lifestyle Movement (GERMAS). I am sure, in the end, this nation will be able to overcome the outbreak and continue to step forward to be a more resilient and advanced nation. For that reason, we must avoid act of selfishness who look only for our own safety. The only way to fight the coronavirus is for us to stay united," Puan concluded.
