House Speaker Puan Maharani delivers a speech during the opening of the Second Meeting of Indonesia-Pacific Parliamentary Partnership (IPPP) held in Senayan, Central Jakarta

Jakarta, July 25, 2024 – Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Puan Maharani, officially opened the Second Meeting of the Indonesia-Pacific Parliamentary Partnership (IPPP). This event marks the second time the House hosts a forum for parliamentary dialogue between Indonesia and Pacific nations.

The opening ceremony of the Second Meeting of IPPP was held at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, on Thursday. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo attended the event alongside Chairperson of the People’s Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo.

President Jokowi's arrival was greeted by Puan Maharani. Also present were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Deputy Foreign Minister Pahala Nugraha Mansury. Puan sat beside President Jokowi during the event.

“I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude for the attendance of the Leaders and Members of Parliament from Pacific countries at the Second Meeting of IPPP. Welcome to Jakarta, Indonesia,” Puan said in her opening remarks.
