PARLEMENTARIA, Bogor – On the last day of the 2nd Meeting of Indonesia – Pacific Parliamentary Partnership (IPPP), Friday (26/7/2024), delegates from parliaments of Pacific countries visited the Science and Techno Park of IPB University. On this field trip agenda, the Rector of IPB University, Professor Arif Satria, welcomed the delegates for comparative studies and learning about establishing start-ups.
The Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Fadli Zon, said that the parliament has budgetary, legislative, and oversight functions. However, parliament cannot work alone; synergy with the government and other stakeholders, such as universities and the education sector, is also essential.
For this reason, the visit to IPB University extends the parliament’s commitment to realizing the goals resulting from the meetings during the 2nd IPPP Session. Related matters provide critical insights into how innovation, technology, research, and development can contribute to a more prosperous, stable, and sustainable future.
“This presents a significant opportunity for us to explore innovative solutions and strengthen collaborative efforts in these areas, where this university (IPB University) also focuses on agriculture, food, marine, and tropical biosciences,” Fadli told Parlementaria after the field trip at IPB University, Bogor, West Java.
In the future, the Gerindra Party Faction politician hopes that both IPPP and the Indonesian House can continue to establish relationships with universities and engage in effective and regular exchanges of ideas. “We must build a strong coalition that supports innovation and sustainable growth for everyone,” he explained.
