The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia has agreed to drop 16 bills from the 2020 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). The Chairperson of Legislation Committee (Baleg), Supratman Andi Agtas, said that the revision of the priority list was based on the proposals from commissions and factions. In a working meeting with the Law and Human Rights Minister and Legal Drafting Committee of Regional Representatives Council (DPD), Baleg finally agreed to revise the priority list.  

“Baleg, in a working meeting with the government and DPD Legal Drafting Committee, has agreed to remove 16 bills from the 2020 Prolegnas priority list,” Agtas said as he led a working meeting at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (2/7/2020). 

The sixteen bills dropped from the list are Bill on Cyber Security and Resilience, Bill on Amendment of Law No. 32 of 2020 on Broadcasting, Bill on Land, Bill on Second Amendment of Law No 41 of 1999 on Forestry, and Bill on Second Amendment of Law No. 31 of 2004 on Fishery. 

Other bills to be dropped are Bill on Amendment of Law No 38 of 2004 on Roads, Bill on the Ban on Monopoly and Unfair Business Competition, Bill on Sexual Violence Eradication, Bill on Industrial Dispute Settlement, Bill on Scout Movement. 

In addition, Bill on Financial Service Authority, Bill on Medical Education, Bill on Pharmaceutical, Bill on National Health System, Bill on Protection and Social Assistance, Bill on Population and Family are also in the list of the bills to be dropped. “We have reached a joint agreement signed by all factions in the Indonesian House and the government which is represented by the Law and Human Rights Minister regarding those 16 Bills.” concluded the politician from Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party.
