The brutal action of the Israeli police, who reportedly attacked Muslims inside the Al Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem's Old City on Saturday (8/5/2021) night, drew strong protests from various parties. Moreover, the action was carried out in the holy month of Ramadan. A Vice Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, famously known by his nickname Gus AMI, stated that this kind of brutal act did not only happen this time. Many parties have also made various efforts to reconcile the two sides but so far have not yielded any results.

"We continue to make various efforts, loud protests, anger, recommendations, and various ways have been taken so that Israel stops violence against Palestine. There is no way out until today, no concrete steps from all countries for this violence and brutal acts," Gus AMI wrote in a press statement received by Parliamentaria on Sunday (9/5/2021).

The politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction has high hopes for all leaders of countries in the world to sit down together. They need to mediate between Israel and the Palestinians to seek a solution to resolve the protracted conflict openly. "What is the solution? Governments and states must sit together and openly talk to Israel and Palestine. Recognition of Palestine and the act of Israel, which never stop committing violence, are the main issues for solving the problem. Sit down, talk, and find a solution," he said.

According to Gus AMI, strong protests from various parties have so far never produced a concrete solution. It is evident that acts of violence committed by Israel in Palestine are still happening. Gus AMI urges the Indonesian government to intervene and, at the same time, garner support to oppose Israeli violence in Palestine. Indonesia and other countries must lead the Israeli-Palestinian mediation so that the conflict ends soon.

"I hope that the government, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and even President Jokowi proactively hold a discussion together and talk so that a solution (to stop) the violence and the recognition of a Palestinian state can be realized immediately," concluded the Vice Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives for People's Welfare.
