Member of Commission II, the standing committee dealing with home affairs and administrative reforms, Rifqinizami Karsayuda, encouraged the implementation of one population data system. The single data system will play a significant role in the establishment of effective and efficient governance.

"The single data will not only be used for population identity information, but all matters relating to fulfilment of public rights of Indonesian citizens," Karsayuda said in an interview with Parlementaria at Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/10/2021).

The Indonesian Democratic Party for Struggle (PDIP) Politician asserted that various sectors, from public services to banking, use population data. The data can also help the implementation of good governance by facilitating the calculation of General Purpose Grants (DAU), Special Allocation Funds (DAK), and village funds, as well as verifying social assistance data and other public services.

For this reason, Karsayuda admitted that Commission II has long called on the government to use more updated population data. The population data used by the General Elections Commission (KPU), for example, can be used as they are regularly updated before the general election.

Karsayuda stated that sorting out the population data requires the collaboration of all stakeholders, who need to play their respective role in coordinating and maintaining the quality of data collection. "We have on several occasions conveyed our commitment in providing the budgetary support for single data entry," he said in the interview, hoping that Indonesia could soon digitalize the population data in the future.
