House receives Russian ambassador, cleric

House Vice Speaker for Economy and Finance Sufmi Dasco Ahmad on Saturday (18/6/2022), received a courtesy call from Russian Ambassador Lyudmila Vorobieva and Head of Mufti of Spiritual Assembly of Muslim of Russia Albir Kurganov. Ahmad said the meeting was a friendly visit to strengthen relationship between the two countries.
“Yes, it was a courtesy call from the Russian Grand Mufti who also brought together clerics across the country to promote friendship between the two nations,” Ahmad said after the meeting in Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta.
In addition, the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party politician said that the meeting also had an exchange of information on the economy and trade between Russia and Indonesia. They all hope that the two countries can improve the cooperation and the partnership in those two areas in the future.
Meanwhile, Albir Kurganov expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian people for the warm welcome and hospitality during his stay in the country. He considered that the meeting was important to learn about Indonesia’s experiences, especially related to the religion of Islam.
“For us, this is a very important meeting because we have the chance to learn about Indonesia’s experiences regarding Islam and to meet in person with our Muslim brothers in this country,” he said. Albir also explained that the two sides also explored possible potential partnership between the two countries in the areas of economy, education, and culture. (rdn/sf-mut)
