Member of the House Commission IX, the standing committee dealing with health and manpower, Rahmad Handoyo, praised the government's success in reaching the 2 million COVID-19 vaccination target on 29 September 2021. He hoped that the achievement could be maintained and even increased to meet the full vaccination target by the end of 2021.
"We shouldn't be complacent so we can improve the daily vaccination rate from 2 million vaccines. We should at least maintain this rate in the hope that the 70 percent to 80 percent vaccination target by the end of this year can be achieved," said Handoyo in a recent interview with Parlementaria.
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician said that the achievement was made possible by the collaboration of all stakeholders, which include regional health department, health workers, civil service organizations, the National Army, and the National Police.
Moreover, the success is also attributable to public enthusiasm to get vaccinated. "This is good news. People's enthusiasm is something that must be maintained because people welcome the vaccination program," he explained.
Previously, the Ministry of Health revealed that the COVID-19 vaccination achieved 2-million daily jabs. Head of the Ministry's Communication and Public Service Bureau, Widyawati, said that, according to the COVID-19 Task Force data on 29 September 2021, as many as 2,049,125 doses of vaccine have been administered. The number includes 1,291,850 first-dose vaccinations and 757,275 second-dose vaccinations. (rnm/es)
